list of colleges - good for theater?
« on: Sep 02, 2011, 02:03 am »
I'm a high schooler who loves stage managing, but I'm not entirely sure I want to pursue it as a career, so I don't want to major in theater or anything of the sort. (Right now, my non-theater interests are mostly in Latin, Ancient Greek, and linguistics.) However, I definitely want to go to a college that will give me a lot of theater opportunities, both in terms of taking classes and working on productions, and I want to go somewhere where if someone looks at my resume, they'll say "Oh, she SM'd at ________? That has a good theater program!"

So basically, does anyone know if these schools have noteworthy theater departments/extracurricular productions?
-University of Chicago
-University of Rochester
-Vassar
-Swarthmore
-Oberlin
-Rice University
-Wesleyan
-Williams
-SUNY Binghamton

I would recommend looking at the thread Best Schools for SM.  I would also recommend doing a search on the forum for each of the schools listed as many of them have been discussed in previous threads.  Best of luck to you as you make your college decisions.
